    If you share an Amazon account with your partner—or let other people use your Prime login—you might occasionally want to hide an order from your history. That way, you won’t spoil the surprise of a birthday gift, or your kids won’t see something they shouldn’t when shopping for school supplies. Here’s how to do it.

    How to Archive or Hide an Order on Amazon

    Log in to Amazon and click Returns & Orders in the top-right corner.

[Amazon] did refund the money, but the next day I returned a [different] purchase, which triggered this email.”

    In the end, he didn’t end up getting banned. Following his email exchange, he says he was “careful not to return items” and did some more research before buying products to ensure he wasn’t getting scammed (though he unsubscribed from Prime a few months later anyway, thereby curtailing his shopping and returning).

    Another user posted about receiving a “dreaded” email from Amazon. He didn’t reply, he says, and his Amazon experience continued without a hitch. “I have since returned multiple items with no consequence or ban,” he tells us.

    What does Amazon say?

    Amazon is mostly mum about its protocol for identifying accounts that may be banned, as well as how many returns a person needs to exceed before their account is closed. According to the Wall Street Journal report, an algorithm flags users with “unusually high” return rates, and those accounts are then reviewed by a human staffer.

    “We want everyone to be able to use Amazon, but there are rare occasions where someone abuses our service over an extended period of time,” an Amazon spokesperson told us. “We never take these decisions lightly. With over 300 million customers around the world, we take action when appropriate to protect the experience for all our customers.”

    A ban also isn’t necessarily forever, particularly if you believe an error has been made on Amazon’s part. In that case, “we encourage [customers] to contact us directly so we can review their account and take appropriate action,” the spokesperson says.

    It usually works best when you share it with someone you live with, like a spouse, a relative, or a roommate. Amazon Household lets you add two adults and up to four teens and four children. There are parental controls to limit kids from shopping and to decide what content they can see. 

    When you sign up for Amazon Prime, you can pay either $12.99 per month or $119 per year.

    Here’s how to share your Amazon Prime Benefits: 

    1. Go to the Amazon Household page.
    2. To create your Household, click one of the three options: add adult, add child, or add teen. You’ll be asked to log in.

    1. Go to the Manage Your Household webpage and sign in.

    2. If removing an adult, select Remove under their avatar. Once removed, they'll no longer have access to any of the Prime benefits or any of your digital content. They also can't join another Amazon Household for 180 days.

    If you are an Amazon shopper in the United States, you must be very happy with their service and generous return policy, especially when you buy items shipped and sold by Amazon. Basically, we can return items without explanation as long as they were purchased within 30 days. They even pay for return shipping if your received item is defective or doesn’t match the description.

    However, it doesn’t mean that you can abuse the system and use it as a try-out/rental service.
